The European agenda didn’t disappear in Moldova. It is obstructed as is everything that moves in this country, the head of the Peoples’ Assembly of Moldova Olga Gonchearova noted in the public debate “Current place of European integration on Moldova’s sociopolitical agenda” that was staged by IPN.
However, the expert also sees the positive side of such a situation. “For the first time, the fight against corruption will come to the forefront of the electoral struggle. Earlier, the geopolitical, history and language problems always prevailed. Now the main electoral agenda changes,” stated Olga Goncharova.
She reminded that the eradication of corruption was the basis for the development of many states. “The famous Golda Meir in her works wrote that if you want to build a country in which your children and grandchildren will live, make sure that corruption is equaled to a crime the punished for which will be served up to the seventh generation.”
“Golda Meier also urged: build your country and work as no one needs your country but you. In other words, Moldova should also build its own country. It’s convenient to be angry with the neighbor, to be at offs with Russia, but we should ourselves understand where we go, why and for what.”
According to Olga Goncharova, statistics show that only 10% of the inhabitants who are ready to work and fight for their rights should become involved for the situation in the country to be changed. “We must change the situation in Moldova and should then consider how to develop further,” she stated.
