Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Oleg Țulea decided to quit and take up the post of Moldova’s Ambassador to Hungary. The Parliament’s commission on foreign policy and European integration on October 28 approved his candidacy, IPN reports.

According to the legislature’s press service, Oleg Țulea earlier already held the post of Moldova’s Ambassador to Hungary and, simultaneously, to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Croatia and the Danube Commission in 2016-2020, before being appointed as minister of foreign affairs.

Under the law on the diplomatic service, the ambassadors are appointed and dismissed by the President, at the suggestion of the Government. The candidates for ambassador are proposed to the Government by the minister of foreign affairs and European integration after consulting the Parliament’s commission on foreign policy and European integration.

Update /13:12/ Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Oleg Țulea provided details, saying the parliamentary commission’s approval of his candidacy for ambassador does not mean his immediate leaving because a number of procedures are to be performed, in accordance with the law on the diplomatic service.
