Oleg Tarnovschi failed to reach the 200m canoe sprint finals at the Olympic Games in Rio. In the semifinals, he finished 3rd in the 2nd series, with a result of 40.715 seconds, IPN reports.

However, he will compete in the B finals. Additionally, he will participate today, August 18, together with his brother Serghei in the 1000m canoe double contest. The siblings are born in Lvov, Ukraine, but have been representing Moldova at international level for 2 years. Serghei Tarnovschi won the bronze medal in the 1000m canoe sprint competition 2 days ago.

Meanwhile, in women’s wrestling, Mariana Cherdivara-Esanu won her first fight against Ecuador’s Lisette Antes Castillo in the 58kg category, but lost her next match against India’s Sakshi Maik, who went on to win the bronze medal.
