Oil Importing Companies intend to import biodiesel to Moldova

Oil importing companies request the Government to adjust the normative system and the internal standards of Moldova to make possible the import of biodiesel according to international practices. The representatives of these companies have expressed these requests during a meeting called the last week by the prime-minister, Vasile Tarlev and which referred to the condition of the oil products market in Moldova. The prime-minister stated that the Government supported the idea of importing biodiesel and called the responsible organizations to take immediate measures for adjusting the relative legal framework. Although the price of the oil products in Moldova is determined by the international market, the prime-minister mentioned that the Government collaborates with the investors to urge on the opening of the petroleum terminal from Giurgiulesti. In this case it will be possible to store larger combustible amounts, which will guarantee the fuel security of the Republic of Moldova. At the same time, the prime minister urged the importers to support the farmers during the harvest campaign. The representatives of the oil companies mentioned that during the spring farming works they have taken actions to keep the same wholesale prices for diesel oil used in agriculture. They have also announced that in what concerns the harvest campaign, there have been stored sufficient amounts of diesel oil, and this will maintain a stable situation on the market. The pure bio-diesel (BD100) is a fuel made from renewable sources such as vegetal oils or animal fats, it is biodegradable and non-toxic. Unlike the petroleum-based fuel, biodiesel has a flash point at 150˚ C, which assures a higher safety level for the vehicles powered by biodiesel, especially in accidents. It is considered the best to replace the fossil-fuels, as the world's primary transport energy source.
