The head of the Carabineer Troops, Iurie Cozma, deputy minister of Internal Affairs, was dismissed at the request of the president of Moldova, Vladimir Voronin. Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev signed recently this decision.
Previously, during the meeting of the Security Council, the president criticized the head of the Catering and Equipment Department within the Carabineer Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, lieutenant-colonel Daniel Gurau, for purchasing expired canned goods and low quality footwear. Recently he was dismissed, and the commandant Iurie Cozma, who approved the acquisition, and the interim head of the MAI Internal Safety Department, Ion Brebinschi, were reprimanded.
During the press conference, the internal deputy minister, Igor Budurin, stated that the sentences might be more severe if the specially created group investigating the case reveals other violations. According to Budurin, Gurau has purchased from the Company „Cursor” over 11 tones of canned food, and over 2 tones were consumed. The National Scientific-Practical Center of Preventive Medicine established that their use is very dangerous for the health.
A similar situation, according to MAI deputy minister, was noted in the case of 23 tones of butter, purchased from Paraguay.
The decision regarding the dismissal of Iurie Cozma as head of the Carabineer Troops and Internal Deputy Minister was published in the last number of the „Official Monitor of RM” newspaper.
