Official launch of the Council of Europe Week in the Republic of Moldova

Chisinau, 8 July 2022A new initiative to increase public awareness on the work of the Council of Europe called “Council of Europe Week in the Republic of Moldova

” will be launched during the week of 11-17 July 2022. This is the main activity to mark the 27th anniversary of the country's accession to the Council of Europe and aims to promote the Council of Europe core values, ideals, and principles, reaching out to the public in the regions.From 11 to 17 July, the Human Rights Documentary Films Caravan will travel around the country to organize open-air screenings of documentary films developed with the Council of Europe Media Programmes’ support. Six documentaries on social issues and human rights will be screened in five different locations, covering the North, South and Centre of the country:

July 11 - Crăsnășeni, Telenesti, summer camp "Crăsnășeni", 8.00 pm: "My Courtyard," "DizarmoNICA" and "A Sky without Stars".

July 12 – Falesti, House of Culture, 11.00 am: “Our Eve”.

July 14 - Rusca Penitentiary, 10.00 am: "Liliana’s Voice".

July 15 - Cahul, “Nufărul alb” Sanatorium, 7.00 pm: “Soroca's Great Theatre”.

July 17 - Sărățica Nouă village, Leova district, House of Culture, 4.00 pm: “Liliana’s Voice”.

The event will also include post-screening discussions with representatives of the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau and Telefilm-Chisinau, experts, key partners, local representatives, and authorities.

The Council of Europe is the continent's largest human rights organization. It comprises 46 Member States, including all Member States of the European Union. Since the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the Council of Europe on July 13, 1995, the Organization has supported the country in fulfilling its statutory obligations and specific commitments to strengthen democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.
