The leader of the National Unity Party (PUN), unaffiliated MP Octavian Țîcu said the rupture inside the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) is artificial and when need be, the party’s members will unite. On the other hand, Vladimir Cebotari, one of the former members of the PDM, who now forms part of the parliamentary group Pro Moldova, said that none of the MPs who left the PDM will play someone’s game, IPN reports.

“The Democratic Party no longer exists in the form in which it existed. As a matter of fact, in a democratic way the Democratic Party that was elected constitutionally has never held power in the state and we know very well that with only 15% of the vote, it ultimately began to hold a governmental and parliamentary majority exclusively after buying votes,” Octavian Țîcu stated in the program “Secrets of the Power” on Jurnal TV channel.

According to the PUN leader, the dropping of criminal cases started against some of the functionaries confirms that the leaving of those Democratic MPs was artificial. “I will believe that this is not so when the government will start to deal with the case of Mister Vlad Cebotari in which he was stripped of immunity for the concession of the airport, for favoring “Avia Invest”. I will then believe that this is not a rupture and there is nothing they should be afraid of ”.

Octavian Țîcu said the rupture inside the PDM is inherent and by this the party can play both on the side of the government and also on the side of the opposition.

Vladimir Ceboatri, who is one of the members of Pro Moldova, refuted the statements of Octavian Țîcu, saying skeptical people should exist everywhere.

“We, in politics, should have people who believe less in what is going on. This keeps us on the alert, more determined in some of the actions.  Mister Țîcu has the right to the own opinion. We are not those who should prove that there is no theory of conspiracy. We do not even pursue such a goal. We do not aim to persuade those who do not believe that we do not play games. We are those who we are and took decisions as we are. We acted as the reason and heart told us,” noted Vladimir Cebotari.

The former vice president of the PDM said there are many good people in the Democratic Party and these share the same viewpoints as the new parliamentary group. “They are expected to come to us and they daily convince themselves that the decision we took and assumed is a correct one and there is no better way than joining our group.”
