The employees of the Ocnita railway junction have announced that they will suspend work from March 10 if they do not receive their outstanding salaries. The decision comes after several protests and notifications to the company's management, IPN reports.
According to the chairman of the trade union committee of the Ocnita railway junction, Dmitry Fisiuc, the employees have not received their salaries for 6-7 months and the situation has become unbearable.
"In accordance with the law, we are sending these notices to the management about the termination of work, starting March 10, 2025. We urge all the others who have not joined us yet to support us so that we can finally receive our salaries," Fisiuc said in a video message posted on social media.
The union from Ocnita said it supports the actions of colleagues in other cities, such as Ungheni, Balti and Basarabeasca, who are facing the same problems related to salary arrears.
Moldova Railways' financial problems have persisted for several years, with the company having major difficulties in paying salaries. At the beginning of this year, outstanding salaries amounted to 191 million lei.
