The members of the election observation mission of Promo-LEX by 2 p.m. reported at least 659 events in the election process, with 314 of these being classed as incidents. Among these were the interruption in election filming, campaigning, organized transportation of voters, presence of names of dead persons in the registers of voters, etc., IPN reports.
“In general, we can already ascertain that by this hour we have a higher number of reported situations of incident compared with the previous elections,” the head of Promo-LEX’s election observation mission Nicolae Panfil told a news conference.
The observers reported 37 cases of interruption in the filming of electoral operations on election day in polling stations in the municipality of Chisinau and also in the districts of Glodeni, Ialoveni, Telenești, Balti, Râșcani, Ungheni, Strășeni, Cimișlia, Cahul, Cantemir, Leova, Orhei. At least 11 cases were cases of agitation or black PR within 100 meters of polling places or even inside polling stations to influence citizens how to vote in Chișinău, Florești, Criuleni, Orhei, Ungheni, and Balti.
There were ascertained 22 cases of presence of mistakes in voter rolls, such as incorrect addresses, names of dead persons, signatures put in the name of other persons. The observers of Promo-LEX also reported the unjustified presence of unauthorized persons inside the polling station or within 100 meters from this and the presence of campaign posters and electoral material within 100 meters from polling stations.
“The number of violations of the secretary of ballot reported by this hour is rather high. This is a worrisome signal. We speak about cases of photographing of ballots, presentation of the ballot with the marked choice, incorrect placing of polling booths, which allowed seeing the choice of voters. Forty-five such cases were reported in total,” said Nicolae Panfil.
Today’s elections are overseen by over 1,500 national and international observers accredited by the Central Election Commission. Of the total number, 1,092 are national observers who represent eight public associations of the country. More than 400 are international observers who represent embassies working in mold ova, foreign electoral authorities, international organizations, OSCE/ODIHR, ENEMO, the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, the European Parliament.
