Number of police employees on duty to be raised by 30% for Easter holidays

The Police will increase by 30% number of employees on duty in the community during the Easter holidays. At border crossing points, priority will be given to families with minor children and persons with special needs, IPN reports.

About 1,500 employees of the Border Police are daily assigned to ensure the security of the state and the citizens at checkpoints. “Managerial support and intervention teams are created within the General Border Police Inspectorate to deal with flows at the most crowded frontier posts and avoid the formation of long lines,” Border Police chief Rosian Vasiloi told a news conference.

Those who intend to travel are recommended to find out beforehand what documents they need, to check the period of validity of papers and to plan the route. By using the application “Traffic Online”, one can see which of the border crossing points are crowded and can estimate the waiting time. The nonstop Call Center of the Border Police (022 259 717) can be used to learn about the border crossing rules and obtain other public information.

General Police Inspectorate head Viorel Cernăuțeanu urged not to leave the dwellings unsupervised and, if one leaves home, not to inform about this through social networking sites. The jewelry, large sums of money should not be left in sight. Drivers are warned to obey the road traffic rules and drive carefully, while gun holders are urged to keep the guns in safe places and not to drink alcohol if they carry arms.

The head of the General Carabineer Inspectorate Ștefan Pavlov said the Inspectorate will assign about 1,000 employees to maintain and restore public order, to prevent and discover offenses, to protect special purpose facilities and to ensure the state of emergency regime.

On Easter Night, carabineers will patrol access ways to churches and will manage the flow of persons during and after the religious ceremonies.
