The number of cyber attacks increases annually. According to the latest statistics, the public institutions come before the financial-banking institutions in the rankings of the institutions that are most often the target of cyber attacks. The subject was discussed in a conference held within the Cyber Security Month.

In a communiqué of the E-Government Center, which organized the conference, it is said that regardless of the service or area targeted by the attackers, the final goal is to steal information from databases. In such a situation, it is imperative to meet all the cyber security conditions and to continuously test and analyze the possible scenarios of cyber attacks.

Another finding is that the technical possibilities incorporate only 30% of the components that define cyber security. Currently, one of the key problems faced by most of the organizations is the lack of internal competition, including persons able to perform cyber security tests and to think like a hacker. The mistaken perception that cyber security refers only to technical aspects persists. In reality, security includes a set of complex legal, organizational and technical measures and should be treated as such.

The event involved representatives of the National Bank of Moldova and the Ministry of the Interior and such special invitees as Zhan Jovanovski of Visa CEMEA and Eugen Balezin of MasterCArd WorldWide.
