Number of bridges over the Prut to be doubled by 2030

The company that will carry out the Feasibility Study for four new road bridges over the Prut River was designated, secretary of state at the Ministry of Transport of Romania Irinel Ionel Scrioșteanu announced, quoted by IPN.

It goes to the new Costești - Stânca bridge that will be located on the territory of Botoșani county and Râșcani district.

The new Leova - Bumbăta bridge will be located in eastern Romania, in Vaslui county, and in the south-west of the Republic of Moldova, in Leova district.

The new Leca - Falciu bridge will be situated on the territory of Vaslui county and Cantemir district.

The new Bărboieni - Răducăneni bridge will be located in eastern Romania, in Iasi county, and in the west of the Republic of Moldova, in Nisporeni district.

The Romanian Ministry noted that the number of existing road bridges will be doubled by 2030.

The total estimated value of the first stage of designing the four bridges over the Prut is slightly over 1 million Romanian lei, excluding VAT, for each lot, and the financing will be allocated from the state budget of Romania. The deadline for the conduct of the Feasibility Study is 12 months.

According to the authorities, the construction of these bridges over the Prut will lead to the elimination of congestion at border crossing points, enhancement of transport capacity between the two countries, ensuring of the Republic of Moldova‘s connection with the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) and fluidization of the flow of truck freight transport that is to be operated in the Port of Constanta.
