Traffic increases considerably in volume at a number of border crossing points, primary on the border with Romania, during the winter holidays. A number of measures were taken to ease crossborder traffic, primarily the increasing of the number of border guards on duty to about 1,500 employees, IPN reports, quoting the Border Police.

There are now more frontline employees. The number of special devices for authenticity control of travel documents was increased. The infrastructure of frontier posts is used to the maximum. Additional check lanes were opened and the Reverse procedure is used if necessary.

Joint teams were formed with employees of the Customs Service and their actions are being synchronized. The Moldovan services keep in touch with Romanian and Ukrainian counterparts so as to act swiftly in any situation.

The citizens are urged to familiarize themselves with the state border crossing rules beforehand. The persons can call the Green Line 022 259 717 or can follow the situation at border crossing points in real time.

Seven frontier posts with Romania and 33 frontier posts with Ukraine can be currently used to enter and leave Moldova.
