The nuclear and radiological activities will be controlled by the state. This will be the task of the National Agency for Regulation of Nuclear and Radiological Activities, IPN reports, quoting the regulations approved by the Government.
Minister of the Environment Gheorghe Salaru said the regulated control mechanism will ensure nuclear security conditions for people, goods and the environment against the negative impact of ionizing radiation. The nuclear mass destruction technology will be excluded.
The Cabinet also approved amendments to the national register of sources of ionizing radiation and private individuals and legal entities that possess authorizations for sources of ionizing radiation, nuclear materials and radioactive waste. They will be obliged to swiftly present relevant data for being included in the register. The reporting by international institutions, according to the international conventions to which Moldova is a party, will be facilitated.
