The Government reiterates that Moldovans in the diaspora will not be required to pay the mandatory health insurance when they return home and cross the border. The clarifications are made in response to fakes circulated online.
“Moldovans in the diaspora who do not have resident status, i.e. stay less than 183 days in Moldova during a year, are not required to buy the insurance policy”, the Government’s spokesperson Daniel Vodă told a press conference.
Meanwhile, there are still five days left until individuals can buy mandatory health insurance policies outside the national scheme at significantly discounted prices, ranging from 1,014 lei to 4,056 lei depending on category, instead of the full price, which is 12,636 lei for this year.
According to the National Health Insurance Company, over 100,000 individuals not covered by the national scheme have bought the 2024 policy so far.
