Moscow confirms that no Russian company will deliver natural gas to Moldova as of January 1, 2025. The information is part of a document obtained by the editorial staff of Deschide.MD. It is the response of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Chisinau to a request sent by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the other day, in which it asked the diplomatic representation to inform which Russian companies would participate in the possible resumption of natural gas deliveries to the Transnistrian region, IPN reports.

"The Embassy of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova expresses its respect to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova and, referring to the Ministry's note NDB-3/232-529 of January 21, 2025, has the honor to inform that, as of January 1, 2025, Russian companies will no longer supply gas to the Republic of Moldova," the document sent by the Russian Embassy to the MFA reads, as quoted by Deschide.MD.

Government spokesman Daniel Voda had earlier informed that the MFA had sent a request in this regard to the Russian Embassy in Chisinau after the Russian portal Kommersant published an article on the delivery of gas to the left bank of the Dniester River from February 1 through a Cypriot company.

According to the Chisinau authorities, Gazprom, by interrupting natural gas deliveries from January 1, 2025, is violating the provisions of the contract with Moldovagaz, which is valid until 2026.
