At the moment, any person who is appointed prosecutor general by the current parliamentary majority will not be independent, considers journalist Ștefan Secăreanu. He said a courageous persons who is not afraid of politicians should be named to manage the Prosecutor General’s Office. The issue was developed in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

“I want an independent and courageous prosecutor who will not be afraid of Dodon. There was a prospector who feared Plahotniuc. Why should we now have another one who fears Dodon or the Prime Minister or the minister of the interior who seek the same thing – the resignation of the current chief prosecutor. The President or the Government should not exert pressure,” stated the journalist, noting President Igor Dodon aims to replace the chief prosecutor at any cost.

As to the Second Kroll Report, Ștefan Secăreanu said it was expected that a “censured” variant of this report would be made public and this shows that those who took a decision as to the publication of the document have something to hide. “This state of affairs coincides with the big pressure that is now exerted on the Prosecutor’s Office,” he stated.

Former minister of the interior Grennady Cosovan said the bank fraud committed in Moldova was a Russian diversion. Several years ago he was informed by a Russian agent that attempts were made to thwart the ratification by Moldova’s Parliament of the Association Agreement with the EU. The attack on the banking system was thus staged. “This diversion continues to destroy the national-patriotic forces,” he stated, adding the largest part of the stolen bank funds is now in Russian banks.
