The level of water in the Nistru River exceeded the norm. However, the municipal authorities say there is yet no danger of floods. Even so, the companies operating in the recreational area of Vadul lui Voda are warned to prepare sacks of sand, Info-Prim Neo reports. On Monday morning, the level of water in the area was 12.2 meters, as against the norm of 9 meters. The rise followed the controlled releases of water at the Novodnestrovsk barrage, but the situation is under control, the head of the Chisinau Emergencies Division Iurie Gustiuc said on July 4. According to Iurie Gustiuc, a large volume of water accumulated on the Raut River following the recent rain and floods are possible there. “Last year, it was decided to build a levee (in Vadul lui Voda). Unfortunately, it wasn’t’ constructed. A levee can prevent floods when the water increases to a critical level of 10-20 centimeters,” he stated. The supply of water to Chisinau can be endangered only if the Nistru water level exceeds 14 meters. According to weather forecasts, there will be rain until Wednesday.
