PSD's candidate for the Romanian Parliament, Iurie Ciocan, met on Sunday with nearly 50 veterans of the Nistru War. The discussions focused on the national project of PSD President Marcel Ciolacu and the Social Democratic Party (PSD), which also includes the Republic of Moldova and directly addresses Moldovan combatants, IPN reports.

In a Facebook post, Iurie Ciocan noted that he informed the veterans about a specific provision in PSD's governing program for 2025–2028. This provision outlines the possibility for Nistru War veterans to receive medical assistance and treatment in Romania, funded by the Romanian state, on par with Romanian veterans who participated in military operations abroad.

"We had a warm and constructive discussion, and I am confident we will continue to develop a close relationship. I assured them of my personal commitment to represent their interests and assist them in any way possible. I was delighted to learn that they will support me in the upcoming parliamentary elections and also back PSD leader Marcel Ciolacu in the presidential election on november 24. I am convinced that this mutual support will benefit everyone, including Romanians in the Republic of Moldova and the entire diaspora," said PSD Romania's leader in the Republic of Moldova.

The meeting was welcomed by veteran representatives, who thanked Iurie Ciocan and the Social Democratic Party for their concern for those who risked their lives defending the territorial integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova.

"We were pleased to learn that PSD, Romania's largest party, which will undoubtedly govern the country in the upcoming period, has included in its governing program the possibility for Nistru War veterans to receive free medical assistance and recovery treatment in Romania. This is an extraordinary initiative and an absolute first, and we are deeply grateful to all those involved", wrote Nicolae Girbu, former head of the Veterans Relations Office at the State Chancellery, on Facebook.

"We are convinced that Parliament needs individuals like Iurie Ciocan, who genuinely represent the interests of Romanians from the Republic of Moldova. We, the Nistru veterans, fully support him and Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu. We wholeheartedly back Marcel Ciolacu in the Romanian presidential election on november 24, 2024, and support PSD and Iurie Ciocan in the parliamentary elections on december 1, 2024", added veteran Nicolae Girbu.
