The veterans of the Nistru war call on the combatants and their families to support the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM). The president of the National Union of Independence War Veterans Eduard Maican expressed confidence that the PLDM is the only party that can solve the problems faced by the veterans, Info-Prim Neo reports. “From 1992 until present, the Nistru war veterans have had no representative in the Parliament. Though we cooperated with a number of parties, none of them fulfilled their obligations. Now we will have for the first time a person that will promote our interests in the Parliament of Moldova,” Eduard Maican said Friday during a news conference. War veteran Alexandru Cimbriciuc is the 14th in the PLDM list. “We urge the combatants and their families to actively participate in the elections because the future of Moldova depends on our position, conscience and attitude. So, we must vote for those that will not betray us,” Eduard Maican said. “We trust one party in these elections, a powerful party - PLDM, whose president appreciated the fight for the independence of this state. We think that war veterans’ problems will be solved only through the agency of this party. Many of the veterans know me and I hope that they will make a correct choice voting for the PLDM because the other parties don’t want to see us,” Alexandru Cimbriciuc said. Cimbriciuc also said that if he enters the Parliament, he will deal with all the problems faced by the veterans. “We will provide preferential credits to all the veterans, will decorate the persons that fought for Moldova’s independence and will offer them better living conditions.” At the same time, the veterans say that they do not agree with the attitude and behavior of the pseudo-patriots twho proposed that Transnistria should be leased out, saying that those that suggested this should be leased out instead (the Social Democratic Party on March 20 proposed its own plan for settling the Transnistrian dispute, which says that Transnistria should be leased out to Russia for 30 years – e.n.).
