The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office finished the investigation and sent to court the criminal case against a prosecutor from Nisporeni, who was arrested for passive corruption last month, IPN reports.
The investigation was launched following a complaint from a person who said that the prosecutor asked for €1,000 from him for closing a criminal case started against him. The prosecutor was caught in the act of taking the money. He is now under arrest and was suspended from work.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the case will be examined by the Nisporeni District Court. However, Prosecutor General Corneliu Gurin submitted an application to the Supreme Court of Justice, asking transferring the case to another district court.
This is the third prosecutor arrested for acts of corruption so far this year. In January, a prosecutor from Ocnita and another one from Floresti asked for €400 and, respectively, 2,000 lei for ignoring certain infractions.
