Nine victims of Ukraine accident arrive in Chisinau

Nine of the Moldovans involved in a road accident in Ukraine on March 30 got to Chisinau. Eight persons were taken to the Emergency Hospital, while one person will continue the treatment at home.

The nine Moldovans travelled home accompanied by seven teams of the Emergency Medical Service and three teams of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service that conveyed the persons to Chisinau from the Palanca customs post.

Contacted by IPN, head of the Emergency Medicine Department Ciprian Gherasim said the state of health of seven patients is stable, while of the eighth is grave.

Six Moldovans are still in the hospital in Ukraine. Three of them are in a serious condition.

The accident happened on the Odessa – Rostov-on-Don route near Lebedinskoe settlement. There were 21 persons aboard the minibus that was heading from Soroca to Sochi in Russia. Five persons died on the spot, while 16 were admitted to the hospital with different injuries. One person was later discharged. According to preliminary inquiries, the driver lost control of the vehicle. The minibus skidded into a ditch and then ran into a tree, overturning.
