The organization of the European Political Community Summit in Moldova helped the country to strengthen the foreign partnerships and its place among the European states. Over 13 million lei was spent on the organization of this event and a part of this sum is to be refunded by the foreign partners, Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, stated in a news conference.

“For the organization of this summit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had a budget of 16 million lei and we signed contracts to the value of 13 328 519 lei for the proper conduct of this event. This money was invested in the organization of the summit. A part of these costs will be covered by our development partners that are completing the financial procedures as a result of which the final summit organization costs will decrease,” stated Nicu Popescu.

“We, as society, as a country, realize that beige alone, isolated, without friends is the most dangerous thing for the Republic of Moldova. Therefore, all the efforts to ensure external partnerships for the Republic of Moldova bring clear benefits for our capacity to maintain peace in the Republic of Moldova, stability, a functional national economy. We will continue working to strengthen these partnerships that help us to maintain the Republic of Moldova on the path of accession to the EU and to strengthen our place in the family of European states,” said the Deputy Premier.

The organization of such a summit implies hundreds or even thousands of complex actions many of which are costly and a part of these costs were directly or indirectly covered by some of the partners. There was also a partnership with TVR Romania within which the costs were covered by the Government of Romania, noted Nicu Popescu.
