The Men’s 81 kg competition at the 2017 World Judo Championships of Budapest involved Moldovan athletes Nicon Zaboroshchuk and Dorin Gotonoaga, IPN reports.
Zaboroshchuk won against Sadr Boev of Tajikistan and Oussama Hadjam of Qatar, but was eliminated by Russia’s Khasan Khalmurzaev, who won bronze. Gotonoaga defeated Turkey’s Ilker Gulduren, but then lost to Uuganbaatar Otgonbaatar of Mongolia, who went through to the next stage.
Earlier, Denis Vieru played two matches in the 66 kg weight class, while Norin Tatarescu was eliminated in the first round of the 73 kg class. The 100 kg competition will feature Moldova’s last representative Denis Takii.
