The golden voice and the conscience of Basarabia, Nicolae Sulac, would have celebrated his 70th anniversary on Wednesday, September 5. On April 4 2004, the great artist passed away, a sad event for those who loved him. Nicolae Sulac was born in 1936 in Sadac village, Cahul. He lived 67 years singing songs of joy and sadness for his nation, the most appreciated being “Miorita” ballad. Those who knew Nicolae Sulac say that he sang with his soul, he always spoke word of wisdom and knew how to temper spirits. Not only was he a great national singer, but also the live expression of the national dignity and human determination, forever against cowards, betrayal and evil. Nicolae Sulac left a impressive spiritual heritage – hundreds of songs composed and sang by him, filmed concerts, but also his natural talent that he passed on to his daughter Doina. The great artist rests in the Central Cemetery on Armeneasca Street from Chisinau.
