Nicolae Gaiduc will carry the national flag of Moldova at the ceremony to open the Winter Olympic Games of PyeongChang that will start at 1pm, Moldova’s time, on February 9, IPN reports.
“I’m honored to be the bearer of the flag of the Republic of Moldova at the PyeongChang Olympics. I will definitely have indescribable feelings. I’m eager to compete in the Olympic Games,” stated Nicolae Gaiduc.
Nicolae is 21 and is from Ungheni. He started to practice cross-country skiing at the age of 14, at the Dinamo training grounds, under the guidance of Nadejdei Bria, who will also be present in PyeongChang.
At the Winter Olympic Games of South Korea, Moldova will also be represented by the 28-year-old naturalized Austrian Cristopher Hoerl, at alpine skiing.
