The Moldovan sportspersons continue to compete in the Winter European Youth Olympic Festival that is taking place in Romania’s Brasov.
Biathlete Nicolae Gaiduc entered the competition on February 19, Info-Prim Neo reports. He took the 72nd position out of 77 competitors in the 12.5 km race. With ten targets missed at the shooting range, Gaiduc finished 14 minutes behind the winner - Dominic Reiter from Germany.
The same day, skier Liviu Dubalari ranked 80th among 81 participants in the 7.5 km classical race. The competition was won by Russia’s Alexei Chervotkin.
Moldova has taken part in the Winter European Youth Olympic Festival for the second time. The first time it competed in Liberec, the Czech Republic, in 2011. Until now, the National Olympic Committee of Moldova organized the participation of the youth team in 10 summer competitions, where they won three gold medals, three silver medals, and seven bronzes.
