Nicolae Calancea helped CS U Craiova to qualify for the semifinals of Romania’s Football Cup. The Moldovan goalkeeper had a remarkable performance in the game against Dinamo, for which Moldova’s Dan Spataru played since the 59th minute, IPN reports.
Calancea had several exceptional interventions during the normal period and even managed to score a goal in the penalty shootout.
“Calancea hits the ball very well. He is one of the most technical goalkeepers. He would perfectly suit Barcelona, which starts to build from the goalkeeper,” CS U Craiova coach Gheorghe Multescu told a news conference.
The sports newspaper “Gazeta Sporturilor” gave a grade of 9 to Calancea, rating him as the best. Spataru also had a good play, but missed several chances.
ACS Poli Timisoara and Voluntari also qualified for the semifinals of Romania’s Cup. The last match of the quarterfinals, between Viitorul and Astra, is played in the evening of March 30.
