The next 12-24 hours will be decisive for Moldova as regards the development of the COVID-19 pandemic and the spread of the novel coronavirus will depend on how responsible the citizens are in avoiding their infection and the infection of their relatives, President Igor Dodon stated after the meeting of the Single Command Center.

President Dodon noted the police will patrol near churches on the Resurrection night. There will be by one police officer near churches in each locality, while in larger settlements there will be more police officers.

Mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban reiterated the “Stay at home!” message, noting by one person fewer outside means by one patient fewer in the hospital.

Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu provided updated details about the epidemiological situation in the country. As many as 726 samples were processed on April 18 and 114 of them tested positive for COVID-19. One case was of import and the rest were local transmission cases. The number of infections in Moldova now totals 2,282.

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection informed about one more death caused by COVID-19. The victim is a 48-year-old man from Fălăști district who was admitted to the Fălești District Hospital on April 7 and was transferred to the National Clinical Hospital “Timofei Moșneaga” on April 9. He suffered from immunodeficiency and diabetes.
