New water main to benefit over 20,000 inhabitants of South Development Region

A Leova – Iargara water main with the length of about 23 km will ensure access to water supply and sewerage services for 23,000 inhabitants of the South Development Region. This will supply water to the towns of Leova and Iargara and to the villages of Filipeni, Romanovca, Sarata Noua, Hanasenii Noi and Cupcui, IPN reports.

According to a press release of the South Regional Development Agency, a contract for the execution of works was signed on December 1. The total value of the works is about €3 million or over 60 million lei, €2.4 million of which is provided by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany through the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), while €600,000 is allocated from the National Regional Development Fund and the Leova District Council. The works are to be completed in nine calendar months.

Among the local partners of the project are citizens from initiative groups, the local public administration of Leova district, the Leova District Council and the Leova water supplier SA “Apa-Canal Leova”.
