New study year in Moldova began with patriotic lesson “My beloved motherland”

Tens of thousand of children from the Republic of Moldova took part, in the morning of September 1, to the patriotic lesson “My beloved motherland” that kicked off the new 2006-2007 study year.
During the inauguration festivities of the new study year in the oldest educational institution of the republic of Moldova – “Gheorghe Asachi” Theoretic lyceum, the principal of this institution, Boris Volosatii, expressed his wishes that the new study year will bring to the 2700 pupils, including 180 first graders, the best professional and personal experience.
From September 1 2006, according to the Auto-administrative Council of Pupils and the Teachers’ Council, as well as the decision of the Department of Education, Science, Youth and Sports, a compulsory school uniform will be introduced in the "Gheorghe Asachi" school. Boys will wear a jacket and pants and the girls – jackets and skirts (pants are allowed in cold seasons).
At the festivities dedicated to September 1, besides parents and guests, several representatives of local and central administrations also took part. Prime-minister Vasile Tarlev has been present at the beginning of the new study year in the „Mihai Sadoveanu” school from Calarasi, and the interim mayor of Chisinau, Vasile Ursu, was a guest of the event from the 7th auxiliary school from Chisinau municipality.
