The justice sector reform and the fight against corruption are the main priorities of the candidates for MP presented in a new round of electoral debates on ProTV Chisinau. The representative of the Party of Change said an efficient cleanup in the judiciary can take place only through the external assessment of judges and prosecutors. For his part, the representative of the Democratic Party said they will support from Parliament the justice sector reform, ensuring the formation of a pro-European coalition. In connection with the justice sector reform, the representative of PACE said the “brilliant green” case is political in character and is aimed at intimidating members of the party, IPN reports.

Referring to the splashing of the deputy head of Sângerei district with brilliant green, the representative of the “Building Europe at Home” Party (PACE), said the gesture didn’t pose a threat to the life of Tudor Tutunaru.

“We do not welcome aggressiveness. A member of our party this way showed his dissatisfaction with the fact that a healthy citizen chose to be vaccinated before vulnerable people. It is a political case. We describe this gesture as an action taken in a precarious emotional state,” said Alexandru Grumeza, a PACE candidate for MP.

In the debate, the leader of the Party of Change Ștefan Gligor said that when they come to power, their party will reform the justice sector and this is possible only through the external assessment of the people from the system.

“We lay emphasis on the drastic cleanup of the justice sector. We come with a program to promote electronic governance, eliminate bureaucracy and provide state services without physical contact between citizens and functionaries. By amending the legal framework, we will have to constitute an external commission consisting of upright people, which will assess the judges, prosecutors and investigation officers. Among the assessment criteria will be: incomes/expenses, professional training, work history, stated Ștefan Gligor.

The representative of the Democratic Party stated he regrets the democratic backsliding witnessed during the rule of Vlad Plahotniuc. However, Nicolae Ciubuc said that period was a period of development and modernization, but the process stopped after the leader of the PDM left Moldova.

“In that period, things followed a positive trend as regards the development of the economy and infrastructure. I welcome all those good deeds done by the Filip Government. We regret the serious things committed at the time of Vlad Plahotniuc. If Plahotniuc is to blame for some of the wrongdoings, he should be held accountable,” stated Nicolae Ciubuc.
