New project aims to develop tourist itineraries in Nisporeni-Prut crossborder zone

The project “Development of Tourist Itineraries in Nisporeni-Prut Crossborder Zone” was launched in Nisporeni. It aims at developing cooperation between local authorities and entrepreneurs from Nisporeni-Hancesti-Vaslui-Iasi region and at increasing the number of visitors in this region on both banks of the Prut River, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to project manager Veaceslav Gututui, the project envisions the devising of the Tourism Development Plan and the launch of the Local Tourism Promotion Office and of websites on tourism. There will be organized workshops and printed the tourist guidebook of Nisporeni region in 100 copies. Crossborder tourist itineraries will be created and promoted. Activities will be carried out to improve tourism infrastructure (creation of a tourist information system, repair of the camps, museums and representative tourism sights). Fact-finding visit will be organized to Romania so as to learn successful practices. There will be held two cultural events of regional importance designed to promote a new tourist destination – Nisporeni. The project “Development of Tourist Itineraries in Nisporeni-Prut Crossborder Zone” is financed by the European Commission through the Romania-Moldova Good Neighborhood Program for 2004-2006. The project implementation period is August 2008-August 2010. The project is worth 293,400 euros. The European Commission will contribute 258,200 euros. The Nisporeni District Council is the applicant and beneficiary, the Iasi and Vaslui County Councils are international partners, the Hancesti District Council and the Tourism Development Association of Moldova are national partners, and NisAgroinform is the local partner.
