The new Communist alliance in the Chisinau Council (CMC) has turned into a voting machine, which adopts illegal drafts. The opinion was uttered at a news conference Thursday by Corina Fusu, the leader of the Liberal councilors in the CMC, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“Right at the first sessions after the illegal dismissal of Mihai Ghimpu from the position of the CMC speaker, the new coalition voted several decisions empowering Eduard Musuc (the present CMC president – e.n.) to head all the special committees of the CMC, contrary to the law,” Corina Fusu said.
The coalition also voted a regulation entitling Eduard Musuc to have an office employing 7 people which will consume 350,000 lei from the citizens' budget, Fusu added, underlining this tells of “the big desire to usurp the power, exceeding the powers established in law.”
According to a Liberal councilor, Ion Ciobanu, hundreds of drafts voted by the CMC in a single lot had been previously rejected by the same councilors. “After becoming the CMC president, Musuc chairs the sessions with the police and the security (agency – e.n.), ” Ion Ciobanu said.
The Liberal faction considers that the Eduard Musuc's accession to the position of CMC president happened by violating and disdaining the law, pursuing personal or group interests. Eduard Musuc (the secretary of the Social-Democratic Party, and the former head of the eponymous faction in the CMC – e.n.) is used by the Communists to receive political instructions, to bar the citizens' access to the CMC's sessions, to participate in the Emergency Commission instead of the general mayor, said the Liberals' president Mihai Ghimpu.
However, the Liberal councilors think the CMC has done a number of good things for one year. According to Mihai Ghimpu, “it was a good year during which PL showed correctitude to citizens who voted for it and sticks to this position.”
The Liberal councilors say, during the rule of the democratic coalition in the Council, it adopted a number of important decisions. They payed off debts and subventions worth 500 million lei, including 284 million for the heat and hot water. The salaries of budget earners have risen by 20%. The food shipped to schools grew 30%.
Following the 2007 local elections, PL won 11 seats in the Chisinau council, making it the second largest faction after the Communists.
