The new Cabinet led by the Liberal-Democrat Iurie Leanca will have a different composition, considers expert in politology Eduard Tugui, of the Institute of Development and Social Initiatives (IDIS) “Viitorul”. He has told IPN that the ministers put forward by the Liberal Party headed by Mihai Ghimpu and those with damaged image will most probably not enter the new executive.

“We must see if the Government is supported by Parliament. The most difficult procedure will follow – eternal negotiations. If they manage to form a new executive, it will have not only another head, but also other members,” said Eduard Tugui.

The expert believes that the Liberals who support Mihai Ghimpu will not be included in the new Cabinet. “I will mention here Minister of Transport Anatol Salaru,” stated Tugui, adding that Minister of Youth and Sport Octavian Ticu has a more comfortable position than Salaru and may not be removed.

The minister with a tainted name before the people and the development partners will be replaced, considers the expert. “I refer to the ministers against whom criminal cases were started, who allegedly broke the law,” said Eduard Tugui.

As to the government program of Iurie Leanca, the politologist believes that it will be a continuation of the program of the Filat Government. “That program was coordinated with the European partners. Adjustments are needed as some of its elements, including the constitutional reform, are stagnant. Macroeconomic improvements may also be necessary,” said Eduard Tugui.

Iurie Leanca was nominated for premiership on May 15 and is to present his team and the government program to Parliament within 15 days so as to be given a vote of confidence.
