The political bloc Alternativa, announced today by Ion Ceban, Alexandr Stoianoglo, Ion Chicu, and Mark Tkaciuk, advocates for European integration as the country's major objective. The bloc’s founders state that it will be managed through consensus, with decisions being consulted with the people and based on their demands.
At a press conference hosted by IPN, the leader of the National Alternative Movement (MAN) and Chisinau mayor, Ion Ceban, declared that the bloc is open to any kind of dialogue. "People do not just expect barricades or division into 'us' and 'them.' They expect us to deliver results. People are tired of waiting and empty promises", Ceban stated.
When asked whether they will run together in the parliamentary elections, the MAN leader said that all actions of the bloc will be announced at the right time. Regarding funding, the bloc relies on state budget allocations granted to its three constituent parties, as well as other sources permitted by law. Ion Ceban assured that all financial reports will be transparent.
The leader of the Party for the Consolidation and Development of Moldova, former Prime Minister Ion Chicu, stated that the main competitor for the Alternativa bloc is the lack of professionalism, which, in his view, is the country’s biggest issue. He expressed hope that the new political formation will attract true professionals, allowing for efforts to be consolidated, as most citizens desire.
"Bloc Alternativa is not a bloc for Ceban, Chicu, Tkaciuk, or Stoianoglo. It is a bloc for Moldova, for the people living in our country, and for addressing their problems and needs," said former Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo.
Former MP Mark Tkaciuk, one of the leaders of the Civic Congress party, added that it is essential to restore citizens' trust in the state. The new bloc aims to set an example of a political class that truly reflects the interests of the people.
