A new absolute anti-record of cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic was recorded in Moldova on January 19 – 3,255 new cases, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Health, 327 cases of the total were confirmed in the Transnistrian region, while 52 cases are associated with contact outside the country: India, Romania, Ukraine, Russia, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Ireland, Israel, the UK, Pakistan, Turkey, and Hungary.
Of the 1,720 persons with COVID-19 who are now in the hospital, 174 are in a very serious state and 21 of them were put on a ventilator.
Also, 8 deaths from COVID-19 were reported on Wednesday.
The previous record of new cases of COVID-19 was hit one day earlier – 2,681. Last year, the record high was over 2,000 cases.
Moldova so far has got about 394,000 cases of COVID-19.
