The governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) Anca Dragu said that the Bank’s team will ensure Moldova has a financial system that is not only resilient to crises, but also capable of contributing to sustainable economic growth and development of the country, a banking system compatible with the European area, IPN reports.

“Here, at the National Bank, we will strive for the economy to gain strength and enter the process of convergence with the European market. We will make sure that the banking system is even more resilient and that the citizens can enjoy up-to-date services,” Anca Dragu said in her congratulatory message on the occasion of the New Year.

According to the governor, it is the beginning of a promising year, a year in which the NBM aims to move decisively towards European welfare and values. “It is an occasion and an honor for me to send you my warmest and sincerest good wishes. But first of all, I want to thank you for welcoming me so warmly here, in the country I love, and wish to become a safe and prosperous place for its citizens. Together with the team of the National Bank of Moldova, we look forward with confidence to 2024, aware of the challenges it may bring, but determined to move firmly towards objectives that will boost the development of the country,” stated Anca Dragu.

She noted that they will ensure the country has a financial system that is not only resilient to crises, but also capable of contributing to sustainable economic growth and development of the country, a banking system compatible with the European area.

“I encourage you to join forces and work together to move forward on the European path, because being part of the EU is a guarantee of peace and prosperity. I believe in the power and capacity of the Republic of Moldova! You showed the whole world how generous you are, when you opened your homes to neighbors forced to flee the war. You have shown how determined you are to move tenaciously towards the European Union, which was once just a dream. I feel honored to be part of this process,” said the NBM governor.

At the end of December, Anca Dragu was appointed governor of the National Bank of Moldova, President of the Supervisory Board and of the Executive Board, for a seven-year term. She replaced Octavian Armașu, who was dismissed from office by Parliament on the evening of December 21.
