The national women’s tennis team of Moldova scored only victories in Group III of the Fed Cup Europe/Africa Zone. After beating Mozambique 3-0 and Macedonia 2-1, Moldova on April 16 won against Namibia 2-1, IPN reports.
In the singles, Iulia Helbet beat Kerstin Gressmann by 6-4, 7-6, while Daniela Ciobanu lost to Lesedi Sheya Jacobs 1-6, 3-6. In the doubles, the pair Iulia Helbet - Alexandra Perper defeated the duo Lesedi Sheya Jacobs - Liniques Theron by 6-3, 6-2 and this enabled Moldova to become the winner in Group D.
In the playoff round, Moldova will meet Lithuania or Cyprus. If Moldova wins the next duel, it will qualify for Group II of the Fed Cup Europe/Africa Zone.
