The transposing of the legislation concerning the reformation of justice and bringing of Romanian prosecutors so as to start the fight against grand corruption are the solutions proposed by the National Unity Party (PUN) for ensuring in the Republic of Moldova an independent judiciary similar to that in Romania. The party’s representative Alexei Paluță said Moldova’s union with Romania is the shortest way to the development of the country and improvement of the living conditions up to the level of the European states, IPN reports.

In an
electoral debate at IPN, the representative of the party led by Octavian Țîcu said the Republic of Moldova is a state that can no longer exist on its own, while the removal of the border on the Prut will ensure better living conditions for the people through higher salaries, pensions, scholarships and benefits.

“Our objective is to reunite with the motherland and to this way get rid of the 40 consulates and embassies we have all over the country. Think about the given costs. The maintaining of institutions in the Republic of Moldova, including the Government and presidential institution, costs about €2 billion. The Republic of Moldova remains a captured state that serves only the corrupt persons and oligarchs. We must unite. The Romanians love us and wait for us,” stated PUN candidate for MP Alexei Paluță.

He noted that the judiciary on the right side of the Prut can be reformed only by learning from Romania’s experience in this regard.

“In Romania, justice started to work in 2007. A proof of the fact that our justice system does not work is the refuge found by shrewd guys from Romania in the Republic of Moldova. We must have a ministry in charge of the union with Romania and must borrow from Romania all the legislative proposals that were designed with the assistance of the European Union. We do not need to spend money for the purpose,” stated Paluță.

According to opinion polls, the idea of Moldova’s union with Romania is supported by a large number of citizens. However, at the previous elections the unionist parties didn’t manage to pass the election threshold for this segment of the population to be represented in Parliament. Alexei Paluță considers this is due to the fact that the unionist leaders did nothing but discredit the union ideal.

The Republic of Moldova is a corruption factory. After 30 years of existence, the Republic of Moldova is a failed state. All the parties include decent people and also opportunists. The unionism was unlucky to have such leaders as Roșca, who was definitely a KGB agent,” noted the candidate.

In the July 11 snap parliamentary elections, the National Unity Party is under No. 10 on the ballot.

The last electoral debate of the series “Analyzing Electoral Supply and Demand-2021” also involved the representatives of the Democratic Party of Moldova and the National Unity Party.

IPN Agency staged the electoral debates as part of the series “Developing Political Culture though Public Debates”, with the assistance of Hanns Seidel Foundation.
