National Unity Party registered as election contender by CEC

The Central Election Commission registered the National Unity Party (PUN) as a runner in the July 11 snap parliamentary elections, approving its list of candidates for MP and its electoral symbol, IPN reports.

The PUN is a Romanian, center-right party with a Christian-Democratic doctrine. Founded on June 25, 2017, it pleads for the reunification of Romania and the Republic of Moldova, entry into NATO and integration into the European Union. It focuses on the Romanian nation, citizen and interests of the citizen in harmony with the national interest.

The following parties and electoral blocs have been registered as election contenders so far, besides the PUN: the Electoral Bloc of the Communists and the Socialists, “Building Europe at Home” Party, the Common Action Civic Congress Party, the Electoral Bloc “Renato Usatîi”, the Party of Action and Solidarity, the Shor Party, the Professional Movement “Speranţa – Nadejda” (“Hope”), the Democratic Party and the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform”.

The files of eight more applicants are being examined. The deadline for submissions is June 11.
