National U-21 team beats San Marino

Moldova’s national Under-21 football squad defeated the similar team of San Marino 3-0 away on June 11. It was the first victory scored by the U-21 team in the 2015 European Championship qualifiers, IPN reports.

Moldova dominated the encounter and the first goal wasn’t awaited long. Striker Igor Dima was the first to score, in the 22nd minute. Shortly afterward, Gheorghe Anton doubled the advantage with a penalty. Towards the end of the game, Nicolae Milinceanu scored the third goal.

After this success, Moldova climbed to the second spot in the preliminary group. Lithuania tops the rankings with four points.

The team trained by Alexandru Kurteyan will play the next match of the qualification campaign against England away on September 5.
