Only the candidates for mayor of Chisinau, Balti and Comrat and representatives of the political parties involved in the campaign preceding the local elections will be invited to the debate programs organized by the national public broadcaster Teleradio-Moldova (TRM). The statement on the TRM’s editorial policy in the election campaign for the June 5 elections was approved by the company’s Supervisory Board. The Board’s chairman Eugeniu Rybka stated for Info-Prim Neo that all the political parties – parliamentary and extraparliamentary – will be able to take part in the electoral debates. The independent candidates will not be invited to the debates as they will be too many in number, said Eugeniu Rybka. However, the TRM reserves the right to modify this provision, but will have to make an announcement at least three days before the program. The electoral advertisements on TRM will be for payment. There will be provided no free airtime because there is a very large number of candidates. The statement on the TRM’s editorial policy in the election campaign will be submitted to the Broadcasting Coordination Council in several days.
