National Prizes awarded

The Commission for the National Prize awards has chosen ten winners. They will receive 100,000 lei each on Independence Day. The laureates were selected from 45 files submitted to the contest, reports Info-Prim Neo, quoting a communique from the Government.
The winners of the National Prize are: publicist Constantin Tanase, National Olympic Committee president Nicolae Juravschi, habilitated doctor in History Valeriu Pasat, National Academic Folk Dances Ensemble “Joc” general director and chief-choreograph Vladimir Curbet, “I.L. Caragiale” Satiricus Theater artistic director Alexandru Grecu, poet Andrei Strimbeanu, painter, ceramist and sculptor Iurie Platon, habilitated doctor in Medicine Constantin Spinu, habilitated doctor in Philology Anatol Ciobanu, and habilitated doctor in Agriculture Vasile Babuc.
During the Commission’s meeting on the National Prize awards, Prime Minister Vlad Filat stated that all candidates deserve the State’s attention for the work put in to their field of activity. The National Prize is a reward for the activity, as well as an investment into the activity of talented people. Vlad Filat proposed that, starting with 2013, the number of prizes awarded be increased, and the regulations on submitting files be simplified.
“The awards will take place on August 26, at the “Nicolae Sulac” National Palace, during a festive ceremony dedicated to Moldova’s Independence Day.
