National Philharmonic to host free concert dedicated to Mihai Eminescu

A dedicatory concert in memory of Romanian poet Mihai Eminescu featuring the laureates of the national contest “Mihail Jora”, tenor Mihai Urzicana and violoncellist Octavian Lup, accompanied by pianist Raluca Ouatu, will be given in Chisinau on June 14.

The concert is organized by the Embassy of Romania in Moldova, the Romanian Cultural Institute “Mihai Eminescu” in Chisinau and the Musical Society at the National Philharmonic “Sergei Lunkevich”, starting at 6pm, IPN reports.

Tenor Mihai Urzicana, accompanied by pianist Raluca Ouatu, will sing the songs “Una furtiva lagrima- L’elisir d’amore” by Gaetano Donizetti, “Kuda, kuda” from P.I. Tchaikovsky's “Eugene Onegin”, “Salut demeure chaste e pure- Faust” by Charles Gounod, “Pourquoi me reveiller” by Werther – Massenet and “Che gelida manina- La Boheme” by Giacomo Puccini.

Octavian Lup on the violoncello and Raluca Ouatu on the piano will perform the sonata “Arpeggione” by Schubert and P. Hindemith’s Sonata for Cello solo.

Entrance to the concert is free of charge.
