The national futsal team of Moldova became Group A winner after the first qualifying competition of the 2016 World Championship. In the decisive match, Moldova tied with Georgia 2-2, IPN reports.
Moldova outstripped Georgia owing to the higher number of goals scored. Even if they led by 2-0 after the goals scored by Oleg Hiloti and Sergiu Tacot, Vladimir Vusatyi’s pupils had jitters. In the last phase of the game, Georgia missed a good occasion of scoring the victory goal. Earlier, Moldova won two categorical victories: 7-0 against Andorra and 12-2 against Gibraltar.
“I told you before the first qualifying round that my team was ready to struggle. We have a good squad and deserved to qualify,” Moldova coach Vladimir Vusatyi told a news conference.
In the second qualifying round, Moldova will compete with Italy, Slovakia and Macedonia. The mini-tournament will take place in Italy on December 10-13, 2015.
