The vice governor of the National Bank of Moldova, who is responsible for the supervision of the banking system, Emma Tabarta and the chairman of the National Commission for Financial Markets (NCFM) Artur Gherman were dismissed by Parliament after examining the report of the commission of inquiry into the situation in the financial-banking sector, IPN reports.
The leader of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group Vlad Filat told the journalists that it was decided that the commission’s report will be made public. Also, the Government will be asked to desecretize the decision to provide a state guarantee for lending almost 10 billion lei to Banca de Economii, Banca Sociala and Unibank by the central bank.
The head of the Democratic faction Marian Lupu said the two officials were dismissed because they didn’t fulfill their duties. The persons to these posts are named and dismissed by Parliament. More dismissals are possible after the Government analyzes the actions of all the officials in charge within 30 days.
