Natalia Stratulat meets criteria for qualifying for Rio Olympics

Athlete Natalia Stratulat met the criteria ensuring qualification for the Rio Olympic Games in discus throw. In the national athletics championship, she scored the result of 61.85 meters, IPN reports.

The athlete’s performance will be analyzed by the International Olympic Committee, which will decide if Stratulat will go to Rio. Shot putter Ivan Emilianov is also close to earning qualification. This set a new national record of 20.62 meters. The 38-year-old athlete took part in three editions of Olympic Games so far.

Moldova has for now five athletes who qualified for the Rio Olympics. These are: Roman Prodius, Lilia Fisikovici, Zalina Marghieva, Serghei Marghiev, and Marina Nichishenko.
