Journalist Natalia Morari complained that “agencies specialized in attacks on opponents” started targeting her as soon as she announced her intention to run for president of Moldova.

Morari told a press briefing on Wednesday that she received a letter from the National Anticorruption Center where she was asked, in her capacity as administrator of Media Sapiens SRL, to present information regarding the company’s economic and financial activity from 2022 to the present day.

“Despite having access to all the information about any company in the country, including through the tax system, the banking system and all the other systems, the CNA chooses to support abuse and illegal attacks”, the journalist claimed.

“The CNA request is the beginning of an attack on me, which aims to humiliate and intimidate me. Clearly, this is political pressure. For three years you showed no interest in my company and now all of a sudden, after I made the announcement about running in these elections, you became interested”, fumed Natalia Morari.

Natalia Morari stated that Media Sapiens SRL is a production company that has been active since 2013 and hasn’t committed any violations. “It’s a shame that CNA officials choose to serve Mr. Sandu and not the law. Today the CNA does not belong to the Republic of Moldova, but rather is a puppet agency of Maia Sandu. And what’s worse, the CNA isn’t the only one”, Natalia Morari added.

Morari said she is determined to “respond firmly to all attacks”. “I promise to defend every person who wants to keep their freedom of thought, freedom of expression and the right to vote. I will defend every signature and every vote”, said Natalia Morari.

The journalist challenged president Sandu to electoral debates to elaborate on the accusations.

Recently Natalia Morari has been cleared by the electoral authority to start gathering signatures in support of her presidential bid.
