Households in central and southern Moldova powered by Premier Energy will pay a power rate of 2.99 lei/kWh, as against the 3.09 lei/kWh rate asked by the power supplier, while households powered by Furnizarea Energiei Electrice Nord will pay 3.58 lei/kWh, as opposed to the 3.54 lei/kWh rate asked by the supplier. The new power rates approved by the National Agency for Energy Regulation (NAER) will take effect when they are published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.

The updated Premier Energy rates, depending on the location of the node in the grid and on voltage, are as follows:

- 2.05 lei/kWh for electricity supplied to the point of entry into the transmission network, 42 lei/kWh down from the current rate;
- 2.25 lei/kWh for electricity supplied to the point of exit from the transmission network, 42 lei/kWh down;
- 2.28 lei/kWh for end consumers connected to high-voltage lines (35–110 kV), 42 lei/kWh down;
- 2.47 lei/kWh for end consumers connected to medium-voltage lines (6–10 kV), 42 lei/kWh down;
- 2.99 lei/kWh for end consumers connected to low-voltage lines (0.4 kV), 43 lei/kWh down.

For Furnizarea Energiei Electrice Nord, the updated rates are as follows:

- 2.24 lei/kWh for electricity supplied to the point of entry into the transmission network, 26 lei/kWh down;
- 2.44 lei/kWh for electricity supplied to the point of exit from the transmission network, 26 lei/kWh down;
- 2.68 lei/kWh for end consumers connected to medium-voltage lines (6-10 kV), 27 lei/kWh down;
- 3.58 lei/kWh for end consumers connected to the low-voltage grid (0.4 kV), 26 lei/kWh down.

The power rates were reconsidered after Energocom signed a six-month contract for the purchase of electricity from the Kuchurgan power plant at the price of US$66 per MWh, by US$7 per MWh less than during the past four months.
